LAND DONATION TO CHRISTIAN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION IN ALOR REGENCY, NTT

Alor, NTT— The Head of the Christian Religious Affairs Section provided us with an important report during our visit to Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. An Islamic leader in the area has voluntarily donated a plot of land to be used for the construction of a Christian educational institution. Johni Tilaar, Secretary of the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance (DBK), representing the Director General of Christian Community Guidance, conveyed this directive after the Work Week Opening Service across the DBK ranks.

The service was led by Pastor Eben Heazer Cikarang, Chairman of the Christian Evangelical Church in Minahasa (GMIM), and took place in the DBK Meeting Room on Monday, May 6, 2024. Johni Tilaar stated, "The land certificate has been handed over to the Alor Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, and we will follow up to transfer the ownership." In front of the Director General, Johni Tilaar emphasised that the priority programmes of the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance, including land grants and the establishment of new educational units, must continue to be accelerated. He added, "There are only primary and secondary schools in Alor Regency. This land grant certainly supports the 10.10 programmeme as a priority programmeme of the Director General, one of which is to establish a new educational institution." It is hoped that this achievement will be a good starting point to strengthen interfaith harmony and increase local community access to education.**
