OTTOW GEISSLER PAPUA UNIVERSITY (UOGP) GRADUATES 142 UNDERGRADUATES AND POSTGRADUATES AT HORISON HOTEL KOTARAJA

Jayapura, November 16, 2024 - Ottow Geissler Papua University (UOGP) held its graduation ceremony for 142 undergraduate and postgraduate students from three faculties and eleven study programs within the university. The solemn event took place at the Horison Hotel Kotaraja and was attended by various parties, including the University Senate, Deans, Vice Deans, Program Chairs, lecturers, staff, and campus security personnel.

 

In his remarks, the Head of the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) for Region 14 Papua and West Papua, Dr. Suriel S. Mofu, S.Pd., M.Phil. (Oxon), highlighted the importance of improving the quality of higher education in Papua. He emphasized that universities play a strategic role in building excellent human resources (HR) in Papua. “We believe UOGP will continue to produce competent and competitive graduates who can drive development in this region,” said Dr. Mofu.

In addition, a representative from the Department of Resources and Organizational Bureau of the GKI Synod in Tanah Papua delivered a speech focusing on the integration of Ottow Geissler Papua University into the Christian Education Foundation in Tanah Papua. This integration is expected to strengthen the education system based on Christian values and open broader opportunities for collaboration in managing and developing the university.

Meanwhile, a representative from the Papua Provincial Government emphasized the importance of Papua’s human resources in creating jobs in the region. “We hope UOGP graduates will not only seek employment but also create jobs, thereby contributing to Papua's independent and sustainable economic development,” stated the government representative.

This graduation ceremony marked a historic moment for the graduates and their families while underscoring UOGP’s commitment to supporting human resource development in Papua. The university has proven itself to be a consistent contributor to educating high-achieving youth in Papua.

The ceremony proceeded orderly and emotionally, accompanied by prayers and hopes that the graduates would apply their knowledge to advance themselves, their families, and the Papua community. With the support of various parties, UOGP is committed to continuous innovation and becoming a pioneer of quality education in the Papua region.
