AGENDA 2024: KYADAWUN GKI KLASIS BIAK SELATAN & MINISTRY OF LAW OF PAPUA TO IMPROVE ACCREDITATION

LBH Kyadawun GKI Klasis Biak Selatan on January 31, 2024 signed a Legal Aid Implementation Agreement and Performance Agreement for 2024-2025, LBH Kyadawun is the only Legal Aid Institution in the Saireri region accredited under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (National Law Development Agency) there are also contents of the Legal Aid Implementation Agreement including litigation including investigation, Trial, Appeal, Cassation and review and for Non-litigation cases, negotiations, Assistance outside the court, Drafting legal documents, Case Investigation and legal consultation

According to Imanuel Rumayom director of LBH KYADAWUN, in 2023 we accompanied 170 public complaints of not being able to litigate 143 criminal cases and 37 civil cases and served 1000-15000 people served in Non-litigation assistance, we think there are still many people in the saireri region, especially Biak Numfor and Supiori regencies need legal assistance and need justice, especially people who are financially difficult and cannot afford lawyers, we are

We hope LBH KYADAWUN will be a solution for the people in Saireri region to fight for justice and truth for those who have no money.

That the next year 2024 is planned in August, LBH KYADAWUN GKI KLASIS BIAK SELATAN will follow the accreditation process from the Ministry of Law and human rights from our performance for 3 years, we target to increase accreditation to B and then we strive for accreditation A, in Papua province there are 6 OBH (legal aid organizations) accredited and LBH KYADAWUN GKI KLASIS Biak Selatan to be the only LBH representing the GKI Synod in Papua land and KLASIS BIAK SELATAN nationally accredited.

We also ask the Local Government and DPRD of Biak and Supiori, Yapen and Waropen regencies, to immediately make legal aid regulations, so that Justice Seekers and people who need legal assistance can be helped, today all Papuans (people) have the potential to face legal problems whether as perpetrators or as victims and always need lawyers and Legal Assistance.

We hope that what we are doing will be an inspiration for the parties (Indigenous governments, churches and other COMMUNITAS2) to establish many LBH (Legal Aid Institutions) for the benefit of Legal Aid for Papuans.
