WAMENAG: REPORT IF THE MORA OFFICE REFUSES TO BE A TEMPORARY PLACE OF WORSHIP!
Jakarta, (DBK) Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (Wamenag) Saiful Rahmat Dasuki announced that the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has released the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Religious Affairs No.11 of 2023 on the use of the Mora office as a temporary house of worship. This circular letter is addressed to all regional offices of the provincial Ministry of Religious Affairs and district/city Mora offices throughout Indonesia. "The minister has also issued a ministerial regulation that gives permission to the offices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to be used as temporary places of worship. If there is a Ministry of Religious Affairs office that refuses to become a temporary place of worship, please immediately report it to us," said the Vice Minister of Religion on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. The statement was delivered by the Vice Minister of Religion when opening the great deliberation of the Fellowship of Indonesian Pentecostal Churches (PGPI) in 2023 at GBI Mawar Saron Jakarta. The event was attended by PGP Chairman Jason Balompapueng and Secretary of the Directorate General of Bimas Kristen Johni Tilaar. "This is a guarantee from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to protect religious people and simplify all needs related to places of worship.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is present for all religions," added the Vice Minister. The vice minister also informed me that the government, through a joint decree (SKB) of three ministers, has approved the change of nomenclature of Isa Almasih to Jesus Christ. "So it is the birthday of Jesus Christ, the death of Jesus Christ, and the ascension of Jesus Christ," he said, greeted with applause from hundreds of Christians in the PGPI meeting. "This is the result of proposals from organisations and church councils in Indonesia. Now we just have to wait for the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) from the president, and this will be included in our national calendar," explained the Vice Minister of Religion. Pgpi chairman Jason Balompapueng thanked the Ministry of Religious Affairs for continuing to facilitate the regulation of building permits (IMB) for houses of worship in Indonesia. "The legal size or not of a church standing in Indonesia is determined by the IMB. We thank you for the efforts of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, who has tried to simplify so that we can get IMB," said Jason. Jason also mentioned that PGPI is an official institution that accommodates 96 church synods spread throughout Indonesia, with the number of churches reaching 53,135 churches according to 2019 data and the number of people reaching 14.5 million people.
