Jayapura, the Papua provincial governor's office, witnessed a historic moment for Papua with the inauguration of the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) for the 2023–2028 period. The event was held solemnly on the 9th floor of the Papua governor's office, attended by a number of important figures, including the head of Christian Affairs, Tony Sahertian, S.Si, M.Pd.K., who also acts as a clergyman and bearer of thanksgiving prayers. The inauguration of the MRP was led by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo, S.H., M.H., who gave his remarks with enthusiasm and great hope for the progress of Papua in the coming period.

Also present at the event were the acting governor of Papua, Dr.Ridwan Rumasukun, SE, MM, representative of Pangdam XVII Cenderawasih, acting regent of Jayapura, acting regional secretary of Jayapura city, and representative of the head of Lantamal X. Also present were the rector of Cenderawasih University (Uncen) and all of Forkopimda in Papua province. The audience surrounded the room with enthusiasm, marking the first step of the MRP period 2023–2028 in realising the vision and mission for the welfare of the Papuan people. Head of Christian Affairs Rev.Tony Sahertian, S.Si, M.Pd.K., expressed his hope in his prayer of gratitude that the MRP could carry out its duties and responsibilities with integrity and dedication. This event is a milestone that brings great hope for Papua in its efforts to promote welfare and justice for all its people. Hopefully, the MRP period of 2023–2028 can work synergistically with all stakeholders to realise a better Papua.
