AIDS IN BIAK TRANSLUCENT 2021 CASE: "AWAKENING AWARENESS AND CHALLENGING SOLIDARITY"

Two thousand twenty-one positive cases of AIDS in Biak became the centre of attention, creating an important moment that raised public moral awareness of the serious impact of HIV and AIDS. The ever-increasing growth of statistics sends a strong warning signal, encouraging us to no longer ignore this threatening problem. The figures are just a snapshot of detected cases, but what is more worrying is how much impact is still hidden behind unidentified or recorded cases. To overcome this challenge, joint efforts are needed to strengthen collaboration and increase solidarity, with the hope of achieving the AIDS-free Indonesia target announced by the Ministry of Health in the next 10 years. HIV and AIDS, like icebergs in the Atlantic Ocean, show only a small part of the impact. Only its surface is visible, while the bottom remains hidden. This is the main reason why public awareness and cross-sector cooperation are key to facing this challenge. The year 2022, amid the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the whole world, including Indonesia and Papua, shows how complex the problems faced are. Although the spotlight has focused a lot on handling the pandemic, the problem of HIV and AIDS remains a chore that should not be overlooked. This moment invites all parties to maintain awareness and take concrete action against pre-existing diseases. At this time, the Biak community and the Biak Numfor Regency government are expected to unite to provide support to those directly affected by HIV. Remembering those who have lost their lives to AIDS becomes a moral call to unite and move forward with greater determination.

Data and tables that reflect the sustainability of AIDS cases serve not only as a warning but also as a self-mirror. People are invited to remain vigilant and avoid the risk of this disease. I, Franciscus Saperius Rumere, as an observer of social problems and initiator of the medical community PAM GKI Klasis Port Numbay, invite people who have risk factors for HIV and AIDS to be more open and do not hesitate to do the examination. Early steps during stage one treatment have a major impact. Let's together overcome the impact of HIV and AIDS to create a healthier future free from the threat of this deadly disease.
