TWO HECTARES OF LAND IN WARAKA VILLAGE, CENTRAL MALUKU REGENCY, TO BE DONATED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF IAKN AMBON
To support the development of the State Christian Religion Institute (IAKN) Ambon, Waraka Village in Central Maluku Regency will donate two hectares of land. This announcement was made by the village head (Raja) of Waraka during the signing of the inscription and the inauguration of the Waraka Village Monument as a Village of Religious Moderation by the Director General of Christian Community Guidance, Jeane Marie Tulung, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The village head of Waraka, Richard YB Lailossa, stated, "We hope that this land donation will bring significant benefits for the development of Christian religious education in our area." The Rector of IAKN Ambon, Yance Rumahuru, expressed gratitude for the trust given by Waraka Village. "This land donation will allow us to develop better educational infrastructure and improve the quality of educational services to the community," he said. The Rector noted that the donation of two hectares of land is a tangible example of effective cooperation to enhance access and quality of education in Central Maluku.
He hopes that this step will serve as a model for other regions in supporting sustainable educational development. The Rector stated, "Currently, there are several early childhood education (PAUD) teachers from Waraka Village studying at IAKN Ambon. They will be the first from Seram to graduate with a PAUD degree." The donation of two hectares of land by the Waraka community was also affirmed by Director General Jeane Marie Tulung. The Director General said, "Through this expansion of IAKN Ambon's land, we hope the ongoing process of upgrading its status from an institute to a university can be realised more quickly."
The Director General noted that of the seven Christian Religious Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Religion in Indonesia, IAKN Ambon is the only one with a House of Religious Moderation and has been actively promoting the strengthening of religious moderation through community service for several years. The Director General emphasised that there are still many tasks and responsibilities ahead, and many areas need our attention to emphasise the importance of religious moderation.
