RAKERNAS III BAMAGNAS 2024: STRENGTHENING CHURCH-GOVERNMENT COOPERATION

Berastagi (DBK) — The National Working Meeting (Rakernas) III of the National Council of Churches (Bamagnas) for 2024 took place in Berastagi, North Sumatra, on Wednesday (24/7). The event was attended by church representatives from across Indonesia and served as an important moment to strengthen fellowship and enhance cooperation between churches and the government.

In his address, Secretary of the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance, Johni Tilaar, representing the Director General of Christian Community Guidance, expressed gratitude for the gathering of Rakernas participants and emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening cooperation among churches in Indonesia and with the government.

"The role of the church is vital amid the nation's various challenges. The church is expected to be a model in fostering harmony and peace, as well as promoting a harmonious and inclusive community life," said Tilaar. He added that the church functions not only as a place of worship but also as a source of inspiration and motivation for the faithful to actively participate in national development.

The government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, continues to strive to improve religious services to create a peaceful religious life and encourage the involvement of churches in the implementation of religious development programs.

Rakernas III Bamagnas carries the theme "Together Building the Nation," emphasizing the importance of unity and contribution to national development. The event's sub-theme, "Through the National Working Meeting of the National Council of Churches, Let Us Unite Our Resolve, Together We Build the Nation Towards a Golden Indonesia," underscores the collective commitment of churches to strengthen national values and harmony.

Tilaar urged all parties to utilize Rakernas as a platform to develop effective strategies, share best practices, and strengthen inter-church networks. He emphasized that collaboration and synergy among churches will be a great force in realizing a shared vision and mission, and becoming agents of change that promote the values of togetherness and tolerance.

"Congratulations on participating in the National Working Meeting III of Bamagnas. May the love and peace of Christ be with us all until the end of this event," Tilaar concluded.
