MENKOMINFO APPRECIATES THE ROLE OF CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN STRENGTHENING RELIGIOUS MODERATION

Balikpapan (DBK) The Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi, gave high appreciation to Christian religious leaders who have supported efforts to strengthen religious moderation in the strengthening of religious moderation seminar organized by the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The event was attended by leaders of Christian religious institutions and religious leaders, along with the Regional Government of East Kalimantan, the capital of the archipelago. In his speech on Monday, December 10, 2023, the MoCI stated that efforts to strengthen religious moderation are very important in creating peace and prosperity for Indonesia, both in the physical world and in the digital world. He stressed that Christian religious leaders have played an important role in supporting this cause. This seminar on strengthening religious moderation is one of a series of events from the 2023 National Christmas celebration, which will be held on December 27, 2023, in Surabaya, East Java. This national Christmas celebration is an expression of the joy of Indonesian Christians in welcoming the birth of Jesus Christ. The MoCI explained that the theme of the National Christmas celebration in 2023 is "Glory to God and peace on Earth" (Luke 2:14). This theme invites Christians in Indonesia to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ in realizing peace in the midst of ethnic and cultural diversity, as well as strengthening the spirit of unity. The MoCI also reminded us that 2024 will be an election year, and it is important to support the creation of peaceful elections. He stressed the need to maintain national unity through diversity in order to honor God. The 2023 National Christmas celebration is considered the last celebration for President Joko Widodo, so it is hoped that it will be memorable for everyone and can bring peace throughout Indonesia. This celebration event will feature various ethnic Indonesians and involve more than 25 thousand Christians from various interdenominational groups. The event will also be broadcast live on national television and various other platforms. The seminar on strengthening religious moderation was attended by 80 participants, consisting of synod leaders, religious leaders, and representatives of the East Kalimantan provincial government. This activity lasts for 4 days, starting from Sunday to Wednesday, December 10 to 13, 2023.
