Israel updates amid the war, focusing on the release of hostages in Gaza.
Jerusalem, November 25, 2023 The situation in Israel continues to heat up as the war continues, especially in the context of the release of hostages in Gaza. In the latest update, David Bedine, an investigative journalist who has lived in Israel for 50 years, highlighted some of the crucial issues related to the conflict. Bedine opened the conversation by highlighting the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the context of military exercises. He revealed that a few weeks before the events on October 7, UNRWA stepped up their training, which was the focus of the attention of experts. Bedine said that his side had given warnings to Israeli intelligence on September 27, but, unfortunately, the warnings proved to be true.
The importance of UNRWA is also discussed in the context of education in Palestine. Bedine criticised the lack of response from 25 donor countries regarding concerns about the Palestinian Authority's education system. He highlighted the media's non-disclosure and non-responsiveness on the part of donors to this issue, which has resulted in many negative events, including fatalities and the poisoning of children. On the same occasion, Bedine commented on her distrust of the UN and US policies regarding Iran. He considered that the release of funds for Iran could increase the risk of terrorism in the region. Criticism of the Biden administration's Iran-related policies was also expressed, with Bedine stressing the need to acknowledge the Iranian regime's negative activities. Additional interviews with Rabbi David Gutle and Master Sergeant Deron Kadar provide additional perspectives on the morality of the war, the IDF's approach, and hopes for change in Gaza. Rabbi Gutle highlighted the moral values espoused by Jewish tradition and the IDF, while Master Sergeant Kadar provided a firsthand understanding of the frontline of the conflict. While the war continues, the hope is that, through a better understanding of the context and challenges faced, the international community can play an active role in finding solutions to end this conflict.
