SIGNIFICANT STEP TO ENHANCE RELIGIOUS MODERATION THROUGH ORIENTATION OF PIONEERING LEADERS

DBK— With the support of local church leaders and the regional government, the Orientation of Pioneering Leaders activity organized by the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance has made a significant step to enhance religious moderation. This event marked an important moment in boosting cross-sectoral cooperation to combat extremism and radicalism.

The event was held in Bogor from May 13 to 16 and was attended by various religious figures, local government stakeholders, and community members. The purpose of the event was to discuss various ways to support interfaith harmony and promote religious moderation.

Yowei, Director of Religious Affairs, representing the Director General of Christian Community Guidance online, gave a warm welcome at the opening of the event. He reminded the attendees that this event should serve as a bridge between differences to strengthen bonds of unity.

In short, he stated, "The Orientation of Pioneering Leaders in Religious Moderation that we are conducting today is a manifestation of our commitment to making Indonesia a more peaceful, harmonious, and loving place."

The Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance collaborated with the Working Group on Religious Moderation (POKJA MB) to emphasize the importance of an inclusive and responsible approach to spreading religious teachings. POKJA MB also encouraged religious leaders to be examples in spreading messages of moderation and tolerance.

Religious leaders, community figures, and local government representatives will share their experiences during the four-day sessions. They will discuss the challenges they face in promoting religious moderation and the methods they use to build interfaith harmony.

Participants responded positively to the event and expressed their hope to see tangible results from the collective efforts to enhance religious moderation. They also committed to continue supporting and participating in various initiatives that will be launched as part of this program.

This orientation activity serves as a starting point to enhance religious moderation in Java and as an example for other regions in Indonesia. It is hoped that participants will continue to live in peace and prosperity through strong cross-sectoral collaboration and a shared commitment to building harmony and tolerance. (MVR)
