Hamas releases 25 hostages in a ceasefire framework

In the framework of the recently agreed ceasefire, the Palestinian group Hamas has released 25 hostages, including 13 Israelis and 12 Thais. These hostages have been held in the Gaza Strip for almost 7 weeks, and this release became the first wave carried out in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. The release of the hostages is a bright spot in an area that has been plagued by conflict.

The temporary ceasefire halted a series of heavy bombardments and artillery fires that had been going on for weeks in Gaza. As part of the same deal, Israel also committed to liberating 150 Palestinians within the next four days. The freed group included 24 women and 15 juvenile detainees previously convicted of various offenses, including attacks on Israeli soldiers. The ceasefire gives hope and provides an opportunity for both sides to negotiate further in order to achieve sustainable peace.
