KAMALA HARRIS' CONTROVERSIAL VISIT TO MINNESOTA ABORTION CLINIC SPARKS OUTRAGE
Vice President Kamala Harris caused a negative reaction from a number of pro-life groups after her scheduled visit to a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Minnesota on Thursday as part of her national "Reproductive Freedom" Tour. A Harris tour of facilities in St. Paul marks the first visit of a president or vice president to an abortion clinic. Harris plans to speak with staff and listen to the impact the neighboring state's abortion ban will have on Minnesota. Although Minnesota has no restrictions on abortion, the state's laws affirm the right of any individual to make an independent decision about continuing a pregnancy or having an abortion. Harris' office stated that the visit aims to highlight the protection of reproductive freedom and the efforts of states like Minnesota in defending reproductive rights since the Roe v. Wade case. Wade. However, Harris' visit drew criticism from pro-life groups such as Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America and the Family Research Council. They accused Harris of being linked to a "big abortion" agenda and criticized Harris' actions as Attorney General of California. Marjorie Dannenfelser of SBA Pro-Life America's statement highlighted previous controversies involving Harris and Planned Parenthood. The Family Research Council described Harris 'visit as" unbelievable" and suggested that Harris visit a pro-life crisis pregnancy center rather than an abortion clinic. Harris' visit also comes after President Joe Biden criticized the U.S. Supreme Court for overturning Roe v. Wade during his State of the Union address, with a promise to reinstate Roe v. Wade if Congress is dominated by Democrats.
