The Directorate General of Christian Guidance completes Pioneer orientation to strengthen ASN religious moderation.
The entire State Civil Assembly (ASN) of the Directorate General of Central Christian Guidance has received pioneering instructions for strengthening religious moderation from the Directorate General of Christian Community Guidance (DBK). After the previous two batches were completed last week, the third batch—involving 50 participants—began on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in Bandung, West Java.
In the opening speech of the activity, Director General of Christian Guidance Jeane Marie Tulung emphasised that all ASN Directorate Generals of Christian Guidance must participate in the strengthening of the religious moderation program. "This is a priority programme of the Minister of Religious Affairs that we have implemented for religious teachers, religious extension workers, supervisors, religious leaders, and religious people. As a servant of the people, ASN Ditjen Bimas Kristen must also participate in this programme," he said. According to the director general, the Ministry of Religious Affairs continues to implement the strengthening of religious moderation in the Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJM) for 2020–2024. "With the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 58 by 2023, strengthening religious moderation is the responsibility of all ministries and institutions," he said. According to the director general, the improvement of religious perspectives, attitudes, and behaviours that tend to be extreme on both sides led to the strengthening of religious moderation. The director general concluded, "Pluralism is a beautiful gift of God for the Indonesian nation, which must be gratefully maintained in order to avoid divisions that have the potential to cause problems and conflicts that can harm us, our families, nations, and countries."
