ACCORDING TO A FORMER ARCHBISHOP, THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND MADE A MISTAKE IN MIGRATION.

Staff writer  13 February 2024 | 11:39 AM,/Lord Carey of Clifton, former Archbishop of Canterbury.

According to Lord Carey, the former archbishop of Canterbury, The Church of England "must not turn a blind eye to the impact of mass migration in Britain."

In The Telegraph, Lord Carey stated that bishops in the House of Lords and the current Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, are "blind to what migration is doing to our country-our culture, our infrastructure and our lives together."

He stated that although Britain was supposed to be a hospitable country, some communities faced difficulties coping with the large numbers of immigrants, causing "severe housing and service shortages "that" reached their peak in poorer areas.

The richest in Britain have better protection, but the poorest people have a different experience. He stated that without their consent, mass immigration experiments had been carried out, changing their lives and communities.

In his article, the 88-year-old discussed the dispute over whether the Church of England had unwittingly helped asylum seekers gain asylum through false conversions to Christianity.

He stated that, although he agreed with the church that the Home Office was responsible for selecting asylum applications, his response was "thin-skinned" and that "the church hierarchy seems to deny that there is any problem at all, or anything questionable about its own actions and statements."

He stated, " While it is true that most pastors are experienced enough to deal with this kind of pastoral situation, the Church must do more to affirm that the preparation for baptism is rigorous."

He called on political parties to pledge to reduce the number of refugees and stated that both religious leaders and politicians "must do more to listen to the voices of struggling communities who feel alienated and marginalized by unprecedented levels of immigration."

He stated, " and those who seek asylum should only be accorded the honor with a firm understanding that they must abandon the previous political and moral structures of their society that are incompatible with the democratic values that are open in their new home."
