Organisations such as the Christian Development Agency have written to the Prime Minister asking the UK to stop immediately the Israeli incursion into Rafah.
Christian Aid, Catholic aid agency CAFOD, Embrace the Middle East, and the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) have issued statements expressing "urgent concern" over the attacks that took place this week.
Although at least 67 people, mainly women and children, died, the letter warned that the figure would continue to rise and that "the beleaguered and strained humanitarian system will collapse completely as needs will only increase and access will only decrease."
They claimed that "red lines continue to be crossed "and that the UK" seems utterly incapable of holding Israel back in its current efforts."
It said Britain should use its "full diplomatic pressure" to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
After Israel launched its military offensive following the Hamas offensive on October 7, many people from northern and central Gaza fled to Rafah. The city hosts about 1.3 million people.
The organization noted, " this is one of the few places where very limited humanitarian aid can enter the Gaza Strip."
"We ask you now to use full British diplomatic pressure to demand that Israel cease its military campaign, which has resulted in the killing of 28,000 people."
Will the UK take action now that the red line continues to be crossed despite the UK informing Israel of the 'exorbitant'toll?
Will Britain follow the current route, which increasingly allows Israeli actions without punishment? Will Britain risk its moral responsibility for the ongoing toll of Israeli attacks?"
