Release of Israeli War Hostages: fourth round of exchanges today, an Israeli official says
Israel and Hamas are currently preparing for a fourth hostage swap, with talks ongoing over a list of hostages to be released. The discussions follow on from an earlier exchange that took place yesterday, in which 17 people were released from Hamas custody, including 14 Israelis and 3 foreign nationals. One of the most striking is Abigail Idan, a four-year-old orphan. Israeli government spokesman Elon Levy gave the latest update on the release of the hostages.
He stated that the Israeli Prime Minister had visited the ruins of Kaza with prominent figure Elon Musk, who was also involved in this diplomatic effort. This hostage exchange came under international scrutiny, with the Israeli Prime Minister speaking directly to US President Joe Biden. In their talks, the Prime Minister expressed his joy at the release of Abigail Idan. However, he also stressed the ongoing commitment to bring home more hostages still held by Hamas. Although the process of releasing these hostages has reached its fourth day, intensive discussions are still ongoing. Stakeholders are working to extend this pause, considering the release of additional hostages. Efforts are continuing to return those detained since October 7 by Hamas.
