Recently, volunteers at a church in Tennessee delivered more than 101,000 meals to needy families all over the world.

On Saturday, ChristWay Church in Ooltewah held a food-packing event; about 500 volunteers packed 101,088 meals in 468 boxes.

According to Laura Wootan, Churchway Church communications coordinator, "275 children from poor countries will now have enough food to sustain them every day for an entire year."

Wootan said, "The driving force behind Christ's decision to host this significant event stems from our commitment to loving others and ultimately making Christ's presence known throughout the world."

"Love is the reason" is Chuch's motto, quoted by Wootan. Moreover, in Luke 6:20–21, Jesus said, "Blessed are you who are poor, for your kingdom is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be hungry. Blessed are you who cry now, for you will laugh."

Although ChristWay has participated in recent years in food-packing events held by Feed My Starving Children, Wootan stated that Saturday's event was a "very important event.".

Wootan stated, "This marks the first time in many years that we have been able to host our own event, a testament to the financial support received through generous donations from our meetings." Despite the challenging weather conditions, our community rallied, resulting in an incredible turnout that exceeded expectations."

It is projected that FMSC will deliver 10,108 meals to 40 countries in Africa, 16 in Asia, 14 in the Caribbean, 12 in Europe, 11 in the Middle East, and 18 in the Americas.

Wootan added, "Beyond the provision of food, our overarching hope is that children who receive these nutritious food packages will not only meet their physical needs but will also feel the transformative love of Jesus and get to know him personally."

We also hope that families who actively participate in the packing process can feel the joy that comes from serving others selflessly.

ChristWay's website states that its lineage dates back to 1887 with the Central Baptist Church in North Brainerd, before moving to Ooltewah in 2001.
