In a statement issued on Sunday, the government authority for urban renewal has approved a citywide development plan for the northern city of Nahariya. Approximately 7,000 apartment units and 1,500 new buildings will be renewable as a result of this project.

The city also has more than 24,000 new apartments to be built in the future.

An approved renewal plan has taken the place of the city's original plan, "TAMA 38."

The first housing renovation plan of this type is an urban renovation. Since the plan does not require any further approvals or permits from outside authorities, it is expected that the development process will be fast and effective.

In addition, the renewal plan will allow older buildings to receive additional reinforcement if necessary. In addition, old buildings built after 1980 can also be renewed.

The section in the plan discusses not only housing in the city but also the unique qualities that Nahariya offers. Taking into account these qualities, there are plans to correct infrastructure problems in the city and respond to the needs of society, as well as to update residential buildings.

To spread the improvements across the country, the government authority for urban renewal also encouraged 19 municipalities to implement similar improvement plans. Ramala, Ra'anana, Kfar Saba, Petah Tikva, and Lod are some of the cities involved in the program.

According to Gori Nadler, director of the Senior Planning Department of the government authority for Urban Renewal, "Nahariya is a unique city whose urban structure is successful and well-functioning. The approved plan creates certainty and brings order to Nahariya's urban renewal process in a way that will preserve and strengthen urban quality."

Nadler concluded, "I hope we will see more cities create comprehensive plans of this type, and I thank the Nahariya city government and the District Planning Bureau for their cooperation in promoting this important plan quickly and optimally."
