MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT COULD OPEN ARABS' HEARTS TO JEWISH JESUS CHRIST

MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT COULD OPEN ARABS' HEARTS TO JEWISH JESUS CHRIST

Jesus, the Saviour of the world, was a born Jew.

Due to raging conflicts and increasing polarisation, you may find it difficult to accept it from people in the Arab world.

That's not true.

Arabs desperately need hope on dry land amid the conflicts and great problems plaguing North Africa and the Middle East today. They desperately wanted the freedom and peace that Jesus offered them.

I am an Arab, born and raised in the Middle East, and I live in Jordan, my home country. Never before have I witnessed moments when God entered the hearts and minds of people across the Arab world, a region where more than 97% of people are not Christians.

Its surface may indicate otherwise. Churches were closed, and clergy were harassed by Arab governments such as Algeria. They seek to obstruct any Christian teaching or expression.

However, the more they tried to bring light into the lives of Arab believers, the brighter the flame became, making Jesus visible to everyone. The followers of Isa, the Arabic name of Jesus Christ, have embraced the truth of God, and that truth has set them free. In an uncertain world, they found a rock in Jesus, the Holy One, who was born a Jew.

Nothing can be expected from the millions of Arabs living today. They feel fear and worry about tomorrow because of the war in the Holy Land and other regional conflicts. Many Arab economies face significant problems. Because of fear, the family almost gave up.

"Where can we find real hope? they asked.

I work at SAT-7, a Christian multimedia service based in the Middle East, which allows viewers across the Arab world to witness Jesus through live broadcasts, local-language satellite television, and social media channels. We reached almost every house. We show them that Jesus lives in this world and that he lives in us, giving us peace and hope that the chaos of the world cannot take away.

This is a message of hope for Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa amid endless conflict. No one from the Arabic presentation of our network attacks or offends other religions. Their focus is the life and ministry of Jesus.

Jesus was Jewish. He came to teach us the way, and he is the way. When the Arabs met the real Jesus, as I did, and saw his goodness in his followers, they could not help but be interested in his message of atonement with their loving father.

Observing with faith

Today in the Arab world, when everything seems to be crumbling, we must open the eyes of our hearts to see God's work, even in the midst of war and conflict. As Christians, we may feel like the biblical servant Elisha; however, "those who are with us are more numerous than those who are with them" (2 Kings 6:16, NIV). Over the years, we have witnessed that God is always on the move, even in the worst of times. We pray with faith. We will not see change if we do not believe in the power of prayer.

No matter if it is good or bad, the year 2024 will witness many major events in the Arab world. For God's kingdom in the Middle East and North Africa, however, better things have yet to happen.
